Today is World Autism Awareness Day, focusing on the millions of people worldwide who live on the autism spectrum. After the sun goes down, many iconic Budapest landmarks and buildings – including the Liberty Statue – will be lit up in blue, the colour associated with autism. And then for a week, you can support children with autism by sipping blue cocktails in Budapest – that doesn’t sound too bad of an act of charity now, does it?!

The Kis Lépések ( ‘Baby Steps’) Organisation is holding a blue campaign this year, aiming to highlight people living with autism and to raise money for the treatment of children affected. This week, until 7 April, a number of Budapest bars are joining this initiative by selling a cocktail called the Little Step, concocted by the talented barmen of Brodyland, Dez O’Connell and Lackó Metzger. The drink will be available with or without alcohol, and all revenues will support the charity’s work helping children with autism.

The Little Step will be served at The Studios, The Workshop, Mazel Tov, Tereza, Most Kortárs Bisztró, Anker’t, Nappali kávéház, Boutiq’Bar and Caviar&Bull, while the Doblo Wine Bar is also taking their part in raising money.
