This week, nine Budapest restaurants take part in Goűt de France, a global annual gastronomic gathering that celebrates fine French cuisine. On 21 March, book a table to sample foie gras, frog’s legs and crème brűlée specifically prepared for the day.

On 21 March, 5,000 chefs across five continents will be presenting their own take on French cuisine to discerning epicureans. In Budapest, bistros and fine-dining locales join this global initiative.

A reduced level of fat, sugar and salt will go into the foods served in participating restaurants, selected by an international jury in co-operation with local embassies. This year’s gastronomy is themed around Provence, traditionally rich in seafood, olive oil and sun-kissed produce. Menus will be accompanied by matching wines from France.

In Budapest, you can join the feast at French-Asian fusion locale Baraka, bistro-style Borssó and riverfront Paris-Budapest within the Sofitel Hotel. Participating restaurants also include Biarritz, Cyrano, Jardinette, Café Bouchon, Kolette Bistro and Petrus, all known for their French-inspired cuisine. Set menus feature diverse dishes at each venue, and prices may vary. See here for more details.
