Environmentally friendly solutions, functional design and inspiring facilities define the most innovative offices in Budapest. Whether it’s the colossal regional hub of an international firm or a tiny seat of a local start-up, the number of inspiring workplaces is on the rise. Featuring diverse categories, the Office of the Year campaign has just honoured the best.
The main category of Office of the Year has gone to ION – Dealogic Planet, a newly opened branch by the international firm providing financial market platforms to clients. Created by local Mashroom Design, the design of this new office embraces cities where Dealogic is represented, including New York, London, São Paulo, Beijing, Sydney, Mumbai, Tokyo, Hong Kong and, of course, Budapest.
In the Design category, the HQ of property development company Redwood Holding in the riverfront Neuschloss Palace received the accolade. This eclectic edifice features an elaborate staircase, decorated with frescoes by Károly Lotz of Opera House fame. Containing changing rooms, bike-storage facilities and a café, the Redwood office has been conceived to meet modern-day demands.
In the Corporations category, global investment management company BlackRock came first with their regional hub in Budapest employing 430 people. Found on multi-lane Váci út, the office's raw, industrial-style interior stands out with its practical functionality.
Community Space of the Year has gone to Egis, a century-old pharmaceutical company that stimulates innovative thinking in a forward-looking work environment, implementing elements of nature in its design.
Within the same category, a special award was given to Belvárosi Közösségi Tér, a District V community centre focused on serving downtown families with convenience services and providing parents with training and therapy.
For Property Development of the Year, the giant glass edifice of Telekom HQ received recognition. Wedged between the Groupama Aréna football stadium and Népliget bus station in south Pest, this mammoth construction spreads across nine floors, providing its 4,500 employees with a rooftop running track, a lake and a fitness centre.
