In the hallowed surroundings of the Marble Hall of the recently reconfigured and reopened Museum of Fine Arts, a huge LCD wall has just been installed, displaying interactive data of almost 300 works of art.

The wall is 15 metres long and designed to attract the attention of those who are more interested in specific elements of the museum’s stellar permanent collection.

The LCD Wall only presents pieces from the collection that are now part of the permanent exhibition – from Ancient Egypt to the 18th century, some 300 paintings, sculptures and other works of art.

The device known as Magic Wall can be found in other countries, but nothing of this size: an interactive wall of 21 displays can be viewed by up to 30-40 visitors at a time. The LCD wall helps visitors negotiate the museum more easily, but it is also worth taking a look at the additional information that can be downloaded onto your smartphone with a QR code.
