It feels like Budapest’s biggest summer party, the Sziget Festival, is only just over, but the first headliner has just been announced for 2019. English songwriter, guitarist and everybody's favourite ginger singer Ed Sheeran is coming to Budapest next August and is bound to pack out the Island of Freedom to the max. Ed Sheeran treads the boards on August 7, the first day of next year’s week-long bash. Low-price passes go on sale, with a special goodie bag, from 10am on October 1st, so make sure you grab yours on time. Perfect!

Organised every year on an island just outside Budapest, Sziget Festival is Europe’s most diverse, and the fifth biggest in the world. This year, the seven-day extravaganza brought the world’s biggest acts to Budapest, including Kendrick Lamar, Gorillaz, Lana Del Rey, Mumford & Sons, Dua Lipa, Kygo and the Arctic Monkeys. According toCEO Tamás Kádár“Sziget is a truly unique global festival. We are so proud to have seen 565,000 people from all over the world join us here in the heart of Budapest. An international celebration of the arts, artists from more than 60 countries came to perform over 1,000 events in seven days. The DNA of the festival, openness, love and respect, was on every stage and in every performance, and we will continue to lead the way with our love revolution.”

One of the best-selling music artists of all time, Ed Sheeran, is sure to be the biggest hit of next year's festival, but given the strong line-up this summer, we are looking forward to what else Sziget might have up its sleeve for 2019.
