Scottish beers, burgers and chicken wings – today, finally, cult Scottish craft-beer company BrewDog opens up in Budapest. The best brews of the Scots (and special guests) flow from 25 taps, while breakfast and brunch also feature – and all in Anker köz in the city centre. Here’s a sneak peek.

With scores of locales spanning the globe, in destinations as remote as Helsinki, São Paulo and Seoul, BrewDog’s next venture brings the famous Dead Pony Club, Jack Hammer, Elvis Juice and other BrewDog boozes to Budapest. The selection is impressive – presented on a cinema-style schedule board and available from 25 taps – and also includes drinks from other local breweries such as Mad Scientist, TuffBuzz and FIRST The Craft Beer Co. The official opening is today at 6pm – the first 100 guests get the chance to win a year’s free beer. You'll find the outlet in the little street of Anker köz, off Király utca.

The atmosphere is classic BrewDog style. Crimson and neon dominate the big and spacious interior. We love the fact that they pay extra attention to the ladies, with special care products in the bathroom, all too rare for Budapest.

Hot dogs (even with soy sausage), burgers, chips, sweet potato chips, mac ‘n’ cheese and corn on the cobs are available to snack on, while the menu also features eight kinds of burgers, and BrewDog’s famous chicken wings, offered ‘all you can eat’ on Wednesdays. The menu recommends a house beer for every course.

For those who come early, there’s breakfast, a salad or brunch here, too. The Haystack menu (2,890 forints) includes British pork sausage, black pudding, forest mushrooms, BBQ pit beans, sourdough toast and bacon. This can also be ordered Hungarian-style (2,490 forints) or as a vegetarian version (2,890 forints). Cereals with homemade jam (1,090 forints) and omelette with toast (1,190 forints) also feature.
