Sheffield’s finest, the Arctic Monkeys, are stepping back into the limelight in 2018 with a headlining show at the Sziget Festival on August 14th. After the immediate success of debut LP “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not” in 2006, the band continued to pick up awards, No.1 slots and headlining spots at Glastonbury. After a massive world tour and sixth studio album “AM” in 2014, the band took time off, only coming back together in 2017 to go into the studio. A new album is expected at some point in 2018, perhaps moving even further away from the revered garagey thrash of yesteryear.

Sziget Festival organizers announced their preliminary list a week ago, featuring the first names confirmed for the 2018 jamboree. Stars include American rapper Kendrick Lamar, winner of multiple Grammy Awards, former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, London alt-folk combo Mumford and Sons, UK indie faves Bastille and Norwegian house DJ KYGO. Indian-influenced Swedish chanteuse Lykke Li is another confirmed name, as well as hobo blues hero Seasick Steve, El Paso ambient band Cigarettes After Sex, and Buffalo rockers the Goo Goo Dolls.

You still have time until Wednesday to get your Early Bird ticket for the Budapest summer's biggest extravaganza. For more details, see the Sziget website.
