Star UK chef Jamie Oliver made a rare appearance in Budapest today to present his plans for his restaurants in the Hungarian capital. He went for a walk around the Castle District and praised the city for its beauty, saying he would definitely come back soon with his family. “Now you’ll probably see me on social media promoting Budapest and changing everyone’s travel plans – like, don't go there! Come HERE! It is amazing, brilliant here.” Through the event, Jamie was jolly, friendly and chatty with his audience, enthused about food and the city and fielded questions, including one from We Love Budapest that he seemed to like. But let Jamie Oliver tell you all about it himself in our videos below:

The TV celebrity and culinary author first set up in Budapest in 2016, a branch of his Jamie’s Italian chain up in the Castle District. Opened in partnership with the renowned local Zsidai Gastronomy Group, this popular eatery provides the kind of affordable, healthy and tasty dishes Oliver would have learned from his mentor back in England, Gennaro Contaldo.

A year later, just before Christmas, Jamie’s Pizzeria was unveiled in Gozsdu udvar, the city’s bar and dining hub of District VII. To the assembled local press, including We Love Budapest, Oliver outlined the importance of quality basic ingredients, the seasonal changes to the menus at his two venues here and promoted his books. During the Q&A session, We Love Budapest asked Jamie about what he might have in mind for Budapest:
