Navigate Budapest in style and discover hidden gems with a new double-sided map that features key hotspots in the city’s focal districts. Product of Designliebe studio, this playful presentation serves as a handy guide and a great souvenir in one.
“As an art director and consultant for brand design, I came to the stunning city of Budapest in 2014 and started to work on the idea of the map,” says Aramis Skorzitza, the brains behind this project. "I travelled a lot beforehand and I learned what visitors to the city would like to discover."
The front side of the map captures the most buzzing districts of Pest (V-VIII) with their parks, cafés, restaurants, wine bars, shops, art galleries and clubs. Colorful pictographs for each category help users find specific destinations easily. Bustling zones, such as the party quarter, are also marked.
The back map zooms out of Pest streets and provides an overview of both sides of the city bisected by the Danube. Here key landmarks, such as Parliament, Basilica, Hungarian State Opera and Heroes’ Square, are represented with small-sized drawings, but the focus is shifted towards shops and hangouts found around these main sights.
Meanwhile, an orange line suggests a specific walking tour on the Buda side, complete with detailed navigation. While landmarks such as the Citadel and Castle District are pinpointed, there is more emphasis on Buda’s gastronomic locales. The map also highlights important tram journeys, including scenic line 2, semi-circular 4-6, and focal 47-49. Routes of the popular BKK public-ferry boats also get a special feature.
In haphazard but charming English, the map is a useful tool for tourists visiting Budapest, international students and local expats. This new product is currently available at La Nube Café, Borháló Uránia, Lollipop Factory and online from the Designliebe Facebook page.
