When darkness descends upon the Budapest Zoo, the Budakeszi Zoo, and the Tropicarium on August 25th, many exciting programs await visitors at these animal havens. From petting a gigantic snake to feeding animals to an acrobatic show by sea lions, several amazing programs highlight all kinds of cute critters of the land and sea. The Night of Zoos is held for the sixth time at various Magyar menageries nationwide, and around the capital, the three aforementioned zoos join forces to welcome crowds with a combined ticket valid at all of these lively attractions.

On the last Friday of August, many Magyar menageries welcome everyone with late opening hours and plenty of unique programs for the Night of Zoos. At most venues the events last from 7pm to midnight, with entry possible until 11pm. Tickets can be purchased separately for this special day, or people can buy a combined ticket that enables guests to visit all three zoos around Budapest – the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden, the Budakeszi Zoo, and the Tropicarium – with just one pass.

Within the Budapest Zoo, a total of 23 venues prepare plenty of exciting programs, from petting a gigantic snake to animal feedings and trainings to an exciting acrobatic show by sea lions. Furthermore, 12 more programs await visitors at “Varázshegy” (Magic Mountain): guests can meet stingrays, as well as a few friendly exotic arthropods. Additional entertainment is provided by ice carvers and fire jugglers, while the atmosphere will be further enhanced with LED lights and vivid animations at this extraordinary venue. At the Budakeszi Zoo, guided tours (in Hungarian), logic games, and light traps that attract all kinds of beautiful insects entertain visitors. Furthermore, at the Tropicarium visitors can watch the feeding session of several dangerously intriguing animals, such as stonefish at 8:30pm, alligators at 9:30pm, snakes at 10pm, and Mediterranean morays at 10:30pm.
