When thinking of Hard Rock Cafe, relics from historic figures of rock music, cool shirts and accessories, and gigantic burgers come to mind. However, now this rock-themed chain further strengthened its Budapest burger selection with the World Burger Tour, as each joint “borrowed” a local burger from four other cities. On Budapest's Vörösmarty Square until the end of June, we can try Memphis’s pulled-pork burger, London’s buns stuffed with a complete English breakfast, New Delhi’s vegetarian sandwich, and Rome’s pancetta-arugula burger, all enhanced with spicy French fries.

The world’s Hard Rock Cafes are beloved haunts for those who like classic rock music and happily admire relics from the renowned figures of the genre. It is certainly also marked on the map of those who like the delicious dishes of Tex-Mex cuisine. We definitely do, but now we dedicated our visit to the novelties on the menu. Even though the meal selection of the 170 Hard Rock Cafes around the world stretches from steaks to smoked ribs, fajitas, pulled-pork sandwiches, chicken wings, and other mouthwatering meals, nobody is ever blamed for choosing a tasty burger instead. After all, burgers have been the signature dish of Hard Rock since 1971, when the first sandwich, the Original Legendary, was born with the brand.

We were curious about the mouthwatering burgers when we popped into the multiple-story eatery on Vörösmarty Square, especially because the menu now holds four novelties that bring the classic flavors of four metropolises to Budapest. This is happening everywhere in the world right now; within the framework of the World Burger Tour, Hard Rock Cafe joints share their own local favorites with each other.

In Budapest, each of the new burgers – which come from Memphis, London, New Delhi, and Rome – cost 4,100 forints. They are all made with a slightly sweet bun, and are all generously stuffed with varied luscious ingredients. Memphis’s Tennessee BBQ burger is a tall and tasty tower filled with a thick beef patty, shredded pork, onion rings, cheddar cheese, pickles, and Memphis-style cabbage salad. Once you figure out how to take the first bite, the experience is amazing. We highly recommend this burger for meat lovers and for everyone with a big appetite.

London’s English Breakfast burger is exactly what it seems to be.

Besides the beef patty, a complete English breakfast – ham, sausage, fried eggs, Portobello mushrooms, arugula, and garlic aioli – is stuffed between the buns, and it comes served with a flavorful bean salad. This is a breakfast meal that is always a good choice for even lunch or for dinner.

Thanks to New Delhi, we can also find a slightly lighter sandwich on the menu, as their local favorite is a vegan version. The bun is made of spinach, potatoes, chickpeas, and Indian spices, and it is stuffed with arugula, tomatoes, pickles, and spicy yogurt. The result is a truly tasty, colorful and flavorful burger that is a strong rival of the meaty versions.

The fourth burger comes straight from Rome, and is called “When in Rome”. The bun here holds ricotta, tomato, pancetta, arugula, and a special mayonnaise inside; these ingredients together form a perfect flavor combination. This burger is a compromise between the extremes of the meaty and the vegetable-filled sandwiches.

Just as it would be written in the “Big Book of Burgers”, this meal is never complete without French fries, which are also special at Hard Rock Cafe. We can choose between fries with four kinds of spices (chili, garlic, herb, and Parmesan), and four savory sauces; even though our favorite was the herb-Chimchurri mayo sauce, you cannot make a mistake here. However, be aware that these palatable burgers are only available at Hard Rock Cafe on Vörösmarty Square until the end of June.
