How to get there from Budapest: by car, take motorway M3 east from Budapest (make sure to buy a motorway pass), and continue east until reaching exit 151, which takes you toward Miskolc on motorway M30. After following M30 for about four kilometers, take the exit toward Emöd that puts you on main road 302 connecting to main road 3 at the first roundabout, at which point take main road 3 north toward Miskolc. Keep following main road 3 north until reaching the left-hand turn at the big overhead sign reading “Miskolc – Tapolca / Lillafüred”, and turn left to follow this road as it changes names from Futó utca to Csermőkei út to Batthyány sor. At the fork in the road with Gózon Lajos utca, follow the sign toward Lillafüred to the left, and continue following Gózon Lajos utca as it changes names to Muhi utca and Szervezet utca. Take a right at the intersection with Ferenczi Sándor utca (following the small brown sign showing castle ruins), and continue following this road as it veers left as Tokaji Ferenc utca and then changes to Bartók Béla utca. At the intersection of Bartók Béla utca and Kökény utca, turn right at the stop sign and follow Kökény utca one block until you reach the intersection with Árpád út, where you turn left. Follow this road as its name changes to Hegyalja út and Vadas Jenő utca, which takes you directly to Lillafüred.
