Every year, prestigious New York-based magazine Travel + Leisure invites readers to join their annual World’s Best Awards survey by voting for the greatest destinations around the globe, including islands, cities, hotels, and airports. The results of the journal’s 2017 poll are now freshly released, with Budapest’s Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace topping the list in “The Top 15 City Hotels in Europe” category. However, the city’s Art Nouveau palace is not the only Budapest accommodation that landed among the continent’s best hotels – Aria Hotel Budapest came sixth within the same category.

“The most beautiful building in town, full of culture and tradition, with a splendid view of the Danube and the Buda hills,” says one respondent about the Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace, Budapest’s historic Danube-side attraction that welcomes guests with superior services since 2004. During a survey by Travel + Leisure, the magazine's readers were asked to rate urban hotels in Europe on their facilities, location, service, food, and overall value, with the 179-room luxurious Budapest property gaining the best score of 96.26, praising its unique amenities including its top-quality gastronomy, panoramic views, and high level of service “from the front desk to the concierge to housekeeping to the doormen.”

In addition to this remarkable urban resort, a more recent retreat launched in Hungary’s capital just a couple years ago also made it in the prominent feature – the Aria Hotel Budapest earned sixth place in the list, coming ahead of such outstanding accommodations as London’s Corinthia Hotel, La Réserve—Hôtel & Spa in Paris, and Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet. Nonetheless, five accommodations out of the 15 featured properties are found in the British capital alone, with London’s 41 Hotel becoming runner-up in the contest, while readers also voted in such retreats as Dolder Grand in the hills above Zurich, or the romantic Hotel de Russie found above Rome’s Spanish Steps.
