There are always so many happenings to choose from in Budapest – exhibitions, parties, live music, festivals, performances, and more – but here is our pick of the bunch for the imminent 72 hours or so:

Friday

12pm - 10pm:
Fröccs Picnic on the Danube Shore at Goldmann György Square
At this cool alfresco picnic held between Friday and Sunday, you can try one of the favorite drinks of Hungarians, frosty fröccs, which is made up of wine and sparkling water in various ratios. Furthermore, you can also sip on other tasty drink varieties made from pálinka and other amazing alcoholic libations. More details 5pm - 10pm: Belgian Beer Festival at Bálna Budapest
Between Friday and Sunday, Bálna Budapest once again hosts a hop-scented gathering that brings 45 Belgian breweries together, presenting their more than 250 types of intoxicating suds, among which 65 will be available on tap.

In addition to the alcoholic beverages, beer lovers can binge on fine bites like Hungarian sausages, homemade hams, Belgian fries, and other street-food varieties while admiring the picturesque panorama over Liberty Bridge and the Buda side.
More details 5pm - 11pm: Buda Gourmet Festival at Millenáris ParkA prominent event of Hungarian gastro culture, the annual Gourmet Festival, is held this year during May 18-21 at the Buda side’s Millenáris Park. More than 25 of Hungary’s top restaurants – like Bock Bistro, Costes, Onyx, Nobu, and Rosenstein, just to mention a few – as well as excellent wineries, pálinka distilleries, and confectioneries set up stalls to proffer delicate dishes to epicures. On Saturday, One of Budapest’s most beloved hangouts, KIOSK, holds its 4th birthday bash here; there will be cake!!!

LÄRM: Technokunst – Season Closing at
LarmOne of Budapest’s most popular electro havens, LÄRM closes their third and probably the best season on Friday with a rowdy party. There have been several great nights here over this past year, which LÄRM’s team aims to conclude with another fun-filled – and alcohol-fueled – night.

The Dubstep Story / Wonkap (BE) at Dürer Kert
Belgium-based Wonkap has been strengthening the international electronic and dance music scene for seven years now, and stepped on stage in the past with names like Datsik, Flux Pavillon, Eptic, Funtcase, and Doctor P. On Friday, he throws a great gig at Dürer Kert in Budapest.

at Budapest Central Passage
We all have heaps of clothes that are not the right fit anymore, or we know we are never going to wear them again, but they are just too nice to be thrown out. That is what this market is for.

The idea is simple: You bring the clothes, bags, accessories, and other knickknacks, and the organizers guarantee the venue and the community.

Bike N Nite 021 / Community Cooking & Bass Camp Charity Nite at Anker’t Bike N Nite
is a monthly event series that aims to combine volunteering, helping people in need, biking, culture, and nightlife, and to bring together kind-hearted people from all scenes of society. At this donation-based party, popular DJs spin discs at Anker’t, and after the event all revenue will be used for community cookings and weekly food distributions organized by Budapest Bike Maffia.

If you would like to make your home more cozy and comfy, head to this market on Sunday – held near Budapest’s breathtakingly beautiful St. Stephen’s Basilica – where truly special accessories, funky pallet furniture, lamps, textiles, and all kinds of cool knickknacks await everyone all day.

Korean Tamale Festival at the Lumen Grocery & Community Supplier
The Babramegy-Lumen Festival is held for the first time in Budapest on Sunday, where visitors can munch on rice buns filled with spicy Korean meat specialties in soy sauce and fruity kimchi, wrapped in banana leaf, while soaking in some sweet sunshine on Budapest’s Klauzál Square.

More details 5pm - 7pm: The Devil Wears Prada at the Bem CinemaBudapest’s beloved Bem Cinema continues Meryl Streep Sundays with The Devil Wears Prada, a feel-good chick-flick following Andy (Anne Hathaway), a recent college graduate, who lands the job of her dreams at the prestigious Runway magazine. However, insinuating herself into the good graces of her diabolical editor, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), is definitely not a piece of cake... On Sunday, the film screens with original English audio and Hungarian subtitles.

7pm - 9pm: Recirquel Contemporary Circus Company: Paris de Nuit at Palace of Arts
This vibrant performance takes the audience to the decadent but delightful world of Paris during the 1930s, and unveils the delusive lives of prostitutes, peddlers, and secret lovers. Stunning circus artists, musicians, and dancers evoke the lustful atmosphere of bygone Paris nights, providing a firsthand experience to the audience seated on and around the stage.
8pm - 11:30pm:

The Hardkiss at A38
A popular Ukranian progressive-pop band, the Hardkiss, comes to the Magyar metropolis on May 21st to present their latest album, titled “Perfection”.
