Just when it seemed like winter was absolutely over, a freak blizzard arrived in Hungary’s capital this morning, coating the Buda Hills in thick powder while creating traffic chaos and beautiful scenery. Even though the snow didn’t cause much inconvenience downtown, many drivers had already changed to summer tires, causing cars to skid and slide on the freshly frosty roads around Budapest’s hilltop areas of Normafa and Svábhegy. Meanwhile, restaurants’ terrace tables are covered with snow as blossoming flowers and trees bearing green leaves are coated in white, presenting surreal spectacles.
