As part of a video series highlighting some of the world’s most amazing destinations, the global travel company Expedia recently released a beautifully filmed 10-minute mini-movie showcasing the most iconic sights of Budapest, while an English-speaking narrator provides the city’s basic historical background (and only mildly butchers the pronunciation of Hungarian names). Even though this video covers landmarks and areas that are included in every basic Budapest guidebook, the stunning cinematography of this high-definition footage makes it worth watching, even for locals.
In this video released by Expedia yesterday, classic Budapest landmarks are captured inside-out with sweeping shots, including the Buda Castle, Matthias Church, Fishermen’s Bastion, the Chain Bridge, the Parliament building, St. Stephen’s Basilica, Andrássy Avenue, the Opera House, the Jewish Quarter, Heroes’ Square, Vajdahunyad Castle, and Széchenyi Bath. The narrator’s (mostly accurate) descriptions of these places and several other locations provide a nice overview of Budapest history, while the gorgeous footage would make anyone want to take a stroll around Hungary’s capital – even people who live here.
