A layer of snow now blankets Budapest’s popular Normafa hilltop parkland, providing fresh-air fun even during this winter’s sub-zero conditions. We Love Budapest staff photographer Norbert Hartyányi ascended the Buda Hills to capture urban dwellers frolicking amid the sparkling Normafa scenery, including children sledding and couples strolling, all enjoying invigorating times on the forested peak alongside hardcore runners and dedicated dog walkers. This photo gallery presents exuberant images that capture the park’s peaceful settings that provide panoramic views over the Budapest cityscape.
To reach Normafa by public transportation, take bus 21 or 21A from Széll Kálmán Square (the stop is on the hilly street upstairs above the plaza) until reaching the Normafa stop. The parkland features vendors selling hot food and drinks all throughout wintertime.
