Summer is almost here, meaning that Budapest’s summertime festivals are just about to begin, so let us recommend one such event for the very first weekend of June, especially for those fond of beer – the final Buda Castle Beer Festival, which will feature hundreds of barrels of assorted beers, along with street food, concerts, street musicians, and Hungarian stand-up comedians. Visitors will be able to enjoy all of this during June 2-5 at the cobblestoned Oroszlános Court and Hunyadi Court on the historic Royal Palace grounds.

During this weekend, we’ll have an extra reason to walk up to the Castle District, especially if we like beer, because the final Buda Castle Beer Festival will take place there during June 2-5. This event is regarded to be the most prestigious of its kind in Budapest, and is held in the Oroszlános Court and Hunyadi Court for the last time this year. So, if you want to sip on delicious brews from the festival, you must select a day between Thursday and Sunday. The organizers prepare with many novelties this year, and gather the largest beer factories, importers, and smaller craft breweries at the festival. While tasting everything is probably an impossible challenge, we urge everyone to experiment.

The classics and novelties of the largest Hungarian breweries, imported beer specialties, and the exciting creations of small breweries will all be available at the festival. Among the latter, a newly opened brewery will debut with four types of beer, under the name Főzdeprojekt Váci Street 83, but we’ll be able to taste American and Irish brews, as well as specialties made from fruit, wheat, or malt from the other vendors, as well. All things considered, visitors will be able to taste some 200 types of beer from 80 breweries, including popular brews, top and bottom-fermented beer specialties, and Belgian favorites.

However, a festival isn’t a festival without food: the city’s favorite street-foodvendors will bring their delicious hamburgers and sausages to the event. Regarding music, we can expect local stars like Ádám and Éva fromNeoton Família, Lóci játszik, or Caramel. Some Hungarian stand-up comedians will also perform: Péter Aranyosi on Thursday, and László Hadházi on Friday; even if you don’t understand Hungarian, drink enough beers and we bet these guys will still make you laugh. Daily tickets (1,999 HUF) and four-day passes (3,999 HUF) are available for purchase on the event’s website (in Hungarian). The first 2,000 buyers receive a festival glass and a beer as bonus!
