PosterFest | BudaPest 2016 at ELTE, Lágymányosi CampusOrganized during November 3-25, PosterFest aims to preserve the role of placards as a long-established form of advertisements doubling as artworks. The exhibition features many intriguing images – 77 posters promote cultural programs including theater shows, concerts, and exhibitions, all created by Hungarian artists, while in another section of the display, 60 great graphic works by internationally renowned artists are presented to offer a glimpse into the history of posters and the future of this art form. The exhibition is complete with various works created by 68 students, all of them portraying the Hungarian Revolution of 1956.
6pm - 10pm : Ice Terrace Opening Party at Jégterasz Aréna PlazaPut on your skates and get ready for a season-opening glide on Friday night, when the “Jégterasz” puts the disco vibe on ice with some of the best party music. All you need to do is to show up and show off your ice-skating skills at this cool alfresco activity. Entrance to the event costs 500 forints per person.
8pm - : Telekom Electronic Beats Festival Budapest at Akvárium KlubTelekom Electronic Beats is an exclusive music and lifestyle extravaganza that has played an important role in the music scene of several cities across Europe for more than 15 years. Last year, the prestigious series was presented as a specially curated, multiple-day spectacle that now makes a big comeback between November 4-5, with the most prominent names of the electronic and popular music scene – Bat For Lashes, Julio Bashmore, Brandt Brauer Frick, Floating Points – performing at Akvárium Klub. In addition to the performances of an impressive international lineup, the festival also features cultural events right in the heart of Budapest.
8pm - 10pm: Donny McCaslin Quartet at MüPa - Palace Of ArtsAlready well-known in the world of jazz, Donny McCaslin has become a familiar name across wider circles since January 2016, after the release of David Bowie’s final album “Blackstar”, recorded in secret in 2015 with the collaboration of the Donny McCaslin Quartet. McCaslin has already performed in Hungary several times, including as a member of Steps Ahead and the Dave Douglas Quartet, while this time he will be on stage at Müpa Budapest leading his own quartet.
8pm - 9pm: C!RCA – What Will Have Been at TrafóThree artists stretch the boundaries of what we think possible in this intimate and deeply moving new production by Australia’s leading contemporary-circus company, Circa. Hauntingly beautiful and truly virtuosic, What Will Have Been is a sublime display of interlocking bodies, awe-inspiring movement, and pure physical beauty. Circa’s intrepid artists will challenge your perceptions of what is possible within the human body and draw you deep into a world of physical daring. Accompanied on stage by a live violinist fusing together the music of Bach and spine-tingling electronica, this explosive new production – happening between November 4-6 – is guaranteed to tug at your heartstrings.
11pm - 6am: Rise Of The Robots – Budapest Premiere at A38Rise Of The Robots (aka ROTR) is an underground event series aimed at being a grassroots social movement to raise awareness about the interconnectivity of everything on our planet through multi-media art and electronic music. It’s a call to action to be the change we seek. The goal of these events is to connect people in a like-minded community and provide a forum for self expression.

10am - 6pm: Photoexpo 2016 at MillenárisDuring November 5-6, Budapest’s Millenáris Cultural Center is the place to be for both professional and amateur photographers, where visitors can view and try the latest inventions that take photography to the next level, including the most recent camera models, alongside all of the necessary accessories required for the best snapshots. Those who visit Photoexpo can participate in various workshops that are free to join for ticket holders.
4pm - 7pm: Hubert Czerepok – “National Landscapes” at Trafó GalleryHubert Czerepok is a central figure of the new Polish critical minimalist art, the author of installations, objects, and films. With his current exhibition, “National Landscapes”, Czerepok draws attention to the ideological aspect of using landscape and making it an important component of the national culture. He shows indirectly that giving cultural significance to the elements of nature is often used to build an ideology of group identity. The exhibition will also feature Czerepok’s film monologue entitled Lux Aeterna, where he combines breathtaking views of Norwegian nature with quotes from romantic poetry and writings of madmen and tyrants (Julius Słowacki, Adolf Hitler, Anders Breivik, Thomas Jefferson). Entrance is free of charge.

Party Like Gatsby Budapest – A New Chapter at Symbol Budapest Over the years, Party Like Gatsby has become a vibrant show with an all-night performance of artists ranging from live bands to musical dancers, magicians, acrobats, and much more. The combination of immersive theater and circus followed by a wild party has won over the hearts of thousands of guests in over eight countries. On November 5th, this unique concept comes to Budapest – make sure to be there!
10pm - : Juno Reactor, John 00 Fleming, Power Source at Corvin ClubJuno Reactor ranks among the all-time greats of electronic music, and the group is known for their cinematic fusion of electronica, global influences with dynamic orchestral approach, and experimental soundscapes. On this night, the central figure of the project, Ben Watkins, will play a DJ set, while John “00” Fleming, one of the greatest icons of trance music, will throw an exclusive three-hour-long DJ set. Shahaf Shvarzman, aka Power Source, an iconic Goa-trance producer, is just the icing on the cake. What a night!
11pm - 6am: The Maghreban at LÄRMThe Maghreban is a mysterious presence lurking amongst the murky depths of house and electronic music. The definition of a true outsider who explores and expands upon the foundations of house, molding and adapting it to meet his own musical sensibilities and ambitions. His music has been supported widely by the likes of Ben UFO, Gilb’r, and more. His live show is villainous and enchanting, house music for oddballs at its finest.Sunday
9am - : International Guitar Festival at Liszt Academy Of MusicBudapest’s Liszt Academy hosts the International Guitar Festival, this year highlighting the works of Astor Piazzolla, an Argentinetango composer who was able to connect popular, classical, contemporary, jazz, and archaic music with tango.
On Sunday, a duo from Italy – Giampaolo Bandini (guitar) and Cesare Chiacchiaretta (bandoneon) – will pay tribute to the famous musician. 10am - 1pm:
Palace Of Delights at MüPa – Palace Of ArtsFamilies that want to spend time with creative and meaningful activities can immerse in varied attractions at the Palace of Delights, happening every Sunday at the Palace of Arts. Join the Rydell High School class of 1959 including Danny (John Travolta), Sandy (Olivia Newton-John), and the rest of the gang as they sing their way through such classic hits as “Summer Nights”, “Greased Lightning” and other favorites! One of the most popular musicals of all time is on screen this Sunday at 4.30pm and 7pm, with original English-language audio and Hungarian subtitles. 8pm - : Ukranian Film Week at Uránia National Film TheaterDuring November 6-11, classic and contemporary Ukranian films screen with original audio and Hungarian subtitles at Budapest’s Uránia Film Theater. Movies include comedies, dramas, and even a documentary film, The Ukrainian Sheriffs, that is considered a likely pick for an Oscar nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
On Sunday, visitors can watch The Nest Of The Turtledove, a drama which tackles the subject of economic migration through a story about returning home.
Entrance to all of the movie screenings is free, but preliminary registration is required on the event’s Facebook page.
