The Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden opened its gates on August 9, 1866 in Budapest’s City Park, and today the establishment houses nearly 1,000 species of amazing animals that live amid architecturally significant historic structures. Strolling around the park’s expansive flora and fauna is a cherished activity at any time of the year, but this Tuesday and Wednesday we certainly have a good reason to pop in, as several cheerful programs celebrate the zoo’s 150th birthday.The fun starts at 9am on August 9th at various venues within the zoo’s premises, including costume parades, children’s concerts, magic shows, puppet theater, craft activities, alongside several other exciting events. On Wednesday, August 10th the festivity continues with magical concert performances, as the Budapest Zoo invites all its guests to embark on a musical journey around the world, while melodic tunes from India, Africa, and South America mingle in the air with animal sounds across Budapest's intriguing inner-city jungle.
