Our weekly roundup for the upcoming weekend offers plenty of suggestions for where to go, what to do, and who must not be missed during the next three days. There are always so many happenings to choose from in Budapest – club parties, exhibits, live music, cocktails, performances, and more – but here is our pick of the bunch for the imminent 72 hours or so:

Friday

10am - 6pm: Omorovicza Mother’s Day Pop Up Spa at ÉmileOmorovicza – Hungary’s own cosmetics brand featuring varied products made with healing thermal waters – is hosting their Mother’s Day Pop Up Spa at the charming Émile eatery tucked amid the Buda Hills. For three days only, clients can experience the Gold Hydralifting Express Facial, created exclusively for the event. After the treatment, enjoy a complimentary tea and an Omorovicza inspired macaron at the Émile Café - Bar.

10am - 1am: Downtown Pálinka Days at Városháza ParkDowntown Pálinka Days, which will be free this year, awaits pálinka lovers at Városháza Park during April 28-30; this year the spotlight will be on quince and the fine potent potables that it can be transformed into. By blending the local fruit distillates, the Quince Pálinka of the Year was created, and this festival will provide the first opportunity for its tasting. This fruit inspired the newest member in the Pálinka of the Year series, which will be available for the first time at this festival.

Gastronomy in Pictures
at Downtown MarketA special exhibition kicks off on April 29th at Budapest’s Downtown Market, supported by the Hungarian Bocuse d’Or Academy, and the Municipality of District V. Seven of the best gastro-photographers of the country – Árpád Bakcsy, László Balkányi, Antonio Fekete, Imre Körmendi, Árpád Patyi, Árpád Pintér, and Péter Vulman – showcase their photos amid an authentic market-hall setting, and this unique group exposition is on view through the end of May.

The photographs on display showcase various ingredients, unique food presentations, artistic servings, and portraits of chefs, along with remarkable moments captured during fine-dining events, or a traditional pig-slaughtering day.

You pay for one and get two, while the Bladerunnaz DJs play their favorite liquid funk and drum-and-bass records. A soft warmup for what is coming in the forthcoming two days and three nights. 5.30pm - 10pm: DIÓ Springtime Aperitivo at DIÓ delicate:cantineAperitivo” is not only a quick drink before a meal, but also a gastro-event, where colleagues, friends, and acquaintances can gather for an early-evening toast and snacks. DIÓ cantine in Királyi Pál Street will organize the first Friday-night aperitivo event, aiming at creating a tradition out of it once a month or at least once every season.

Guests can get to know the place’s offers, taste distinct, and natural flavors, talk to producers, and meet new people, or old friends. The menu includes homemade pesto, snacks, tapas, and house wines from the Austrian Burgenland.Saturday

10am - 7pm: Microsoft PlayIT Show at Hungexpo The PlayIT Show is the successor of the Budapest Game Show, the first real Hungarian gamer expo. It provides quality fun for people of all ages and genders, who are interested in the world of IT, mobiles, and video games two times a year. Cosplayers, all kinds of gaming competitions from Halo to Heartstone, all kinds of fan-art exhibitions, laser-tag, table tennis, DiRT Rally simulator, and a lot more. If you consider yourself a real gamer, you shouldn’t miss it!
10am - 11.30pm: Revolution Party at Hungarian National Gallery The exhibition displaying the oldest and most unified collection of the Russian avant-garde art – brought here from the Ekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts – will close on May 1st. On the exhibit’s final evening, the exhibition titled “Russian Avant-Garde in the 1910s and 1920s” will have extended opening hours, concerts, a literary performance, Russian cuisine, and informative guided tours.

8pm - 10pm: UH Est - Sharif Sehnaoui and Balázs Pándi, Gergely Nagy at LärmSharif Sehnaoui is a free-improvising guitarist whose aim is to expand the possibilities of the instrument without the use of effects or electronics. He has also been a key force in the unprecedented rise of Lebanon’s experimental music scene.

This time, he will play with Balázs Pándi, the most well-known Hungarian drummer, who already played with Merzbow, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore, and Mats Gustafsson.
11pm - 5am: MELT – Nigel Stately, Meszi, Goyah at Tesla BudapestNigel Stately, Meszi and Goyah promise you a wicked night in Budapest. The ever-brilliant nightclub in Budapest presents the best sound system and the craziest deep house party for you! If you want to experience the vibrant Budapest nightlife to the fullest, this is a good starting point.
11.30pm - 5am: Andhim, Karanyi, Candyman da Marquis at Akvárium KlubAndhim’s sound, which they self-describe as “super house”, has become its very own genre built from their soul and passion. Their unique sound, party proven and of reduced nature, is organic with an emphasis in the finer details. The sound flows from hip-hop, and they work mainly with samples which make their tracks one-of-a-kind. This individuality has earned them a home with Labels such as Monaberry, Terminal M, or Sunset Handjob. When performing live, one can really feel the full commitment and passion of the boys. Energetic, creative, and always entertaining, they present their very own interpretation of electronic dance music that makes dads cheer and mums scream.Sunday

6am - 2pm: Contra Mundum Presents Afterhours – Chak Besh, Tom Select, Zvezda Beta at Corvin ClubCorvin Club’s famous day-starting techno gathering is back again, with a lineup that features both the usual residents and an international guest. This time, it’s Chak Besh who can be found behind the decks of numerous clubs and parties all over Germany and Europe – including at Kater Holzig, one of Berlin’s most popular clubs. So if you are interested in what drives German night entities crazy, don’t miss this. 10am - 1pm:
Palace Of Delights
at MüPa – Palace Of ArtsThe Palace of Delights welcomes families who wish to spend time with creative and meaningful activities. The children’s concerts, dance shows, and fairy-tale theatrical acts – as well as musicals and other creative activities, including games – are always linked to a weekly theme. 8pm - 10.30pm: Nonkeen featuring Nils Frahm, Andrea Belfi at A38 ShipNils Frahm has had a huge 2015. This year the German magician scored his first full-length film, released a selection of enticing and endearing minimal tapes and once again collaborated with Ólafur Arnalds. But now he’s turned his attention to a new project, nonkeen, with some childhood friends. Using old sounds taken from cassettes that Frahm recorded while Germany was still divided by the Berlin Wall, the trio create warped, progressive electronica, and they’ve released their debut album, “The Gamble”, in February.
