There’s a chance that there is not a single newspaper reader/Internet user who hasn’t seen the American photographer’s iconic photo from 1984: the green-eyed Afghangirl, SharbatGula, was 12 years old when McCurry made his most famous shot, and that was the first time she was ever photographed. The picture appeared on the June 1985 cover of National Geographic, and instantly became the most famous photo of the magazine, spreading across media all over the world. Among many other works, this picture (lent to the museum by a Danish collector) will be on display at the exhibition that opens at Kunsthalle on Friday, and can be visited until April 3rd.

A38 Night/Life Presents Ghostly International Label Night at A38On 26 February, A38 Ship hosts an exclusive showcase from Ghostly International’s three most in-demand producers and DJs.
Shigeto sounds like a blend of early Boards of Canada with a twist of Onra’s Asian sampling palette; his earthy, percussive-led take on hip-hop has been released exclusively on Ghostly International ever since, with his recent “Intermission” EP garnering a particularly positive critical reception. He’s joined by Polish producer Heathered Pearls. Although Jakub Alexander’s music is often pigeonholed as ambient, dub techno, or minimal, in truth his music doesn’t comfortably fit within any genre.
Lord Raja is a young producer with rich musical experience, as influenced by classic Chicago footwork artists R.P. Boo and DJ Rashad as J Dilla and Madlib.Saturday

Electrify – Aïsha Devi, TCF, Helm at TrafóThe ninth installment of Trafó’s Electrify series takes us through Aïsha Devi’s Nepalese-Tibetan trans-music, the data-based modernist ambient of TCF, and Helm’s evocative aural landscapes.
Devi’s own music mines her Nepalese-Tibetan heritage, using her machines to transmute deep meditation. Whether they are guttural or soprano, Devi’s warped pop mantras instruct us to find the unseen through a tense, visceral musical landscape that is often as gnarled and industrial as it is danceable.
TCF is the moniker of Norwegian contemporary artist and musician Lars Holdhus, whose work explores themes of codes, cryptography, and musical composition through the use of visual, sonic, built, and written concepts.
Helm is Luke Younger, a sound artist and experimental musician based in London, working with a vast array of revolving instrumentation and abstract sound sources. “Olympic Mess”, his last full-length album from this past summer, focuses on the dialogue and repetition of wonderfully sculpted noises and heavily layered, floating soundscapes.
