Charlize Theron is already being spotted around Budapest these days while filming The Coldest City – a Cold War drama – and even dined recently at the new Situ restaurant on Kazinczy Street, allowing the kitchen team to take a snapshot with their beautiful Oscar-winning customer.
In the near future, beloved Spanish star Penélope Cruz will also arrive here to impersonate Macarena Granada in The Queen of Spain, in which Budapest will trick viewers into thinking they see city scenery of the Iberian country instead of Hungary’s capital. According to the plot, the setting is meant to recall the ambience of Spanish film studios in the ’50s, and director Fernando Trueba sees Budapest as the perfect place for that.
Santiago Segura – the corrupt and feeble cop of the Torrente movies – will be the co-star of the Spanish stunner, and is likely to accompany her to Budapest.
Also, Tom Hanks is returning to the Magyar metropolis after spending significant time here last year shooting Inferno – the latest Da Vinci Code sequel – as director Ron Howard is organizing another visit to Budapest with his entire crew for the correction of some scenes. Budapest will substitute for the streets of Venice and Florence.
Much to the delight of all the ladies, Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford are filming Blade Runner 2 in Budapest, which will be directed by Ridley Scott, so the three men might be seen on the streets of our city in the summer. Also, Rosamund Pike is yet to come to shoot HHhH, a film about World War II. We hope that all of these celebrities will thoroughly enjoy their time here!
