On November 17th of 1873, three separate cities – Buda, Pest, and Óbuda – reached across the Danube to form a single municipality that evolved into the modern-day capital of Hungary. Many highs and lows have shaped Budapest since that day, from its architectural boom during the belle époque era to utter devastation from multiple wars, but today the city is one of the world’s hottest destinations and home to some 1.7 million people. We pay tribute to the city we love with a collection of breathtaking Budapest pictures by Magyar photographer Krisztián Bódis. Don’t forget to make a wish!
