Titanic'15, the 22nd edition of the international film festival in Budapest begins this week. In the true spirit of the festival there will be a multitude of genres introduced in eight categories from the famous to the little-known. Everyone will find something to their liking. The festival will feature a total of 52 films from 32 countries. Like in previous years, eight of the films will compete for the Breaking Waves award.

Eagerly anticipated by the film industry each year, the Titanic International Film Festival specialises in films from all around the world that are not in Hungarian distribution or arrive to Hungary with a delay, balancing art with the mainstream. It isn't a simple task to pick a few films from the entire selection to highlight, but that doesn't stop us from trying!

From the "Opening" section, the newest creation of the understandably popular Iranian director, Jafar Panahi, promises to be a very interesting choice. Jafar is not only the director, but also the protagonist of the film Taxi.

Speaking of Iran, the "In Competition" section also includes an extraordinary creation. Ana Lily Amirpour's debut A Girl Walks Alone at Night is a real cavalcade of genres. It's a combination of western, horror and a vampire movie. The film's inspirations include Sergio Leone and David Lynch - two buzzwords for true cinema fans.

Perhaps the most anticipated and best known of this year's Titanic film selection is the Oscar-winning American independent, Still Alice. Julianne Moore finally took home the Best Actress Oscar for her performance and she thoroughly deserved it. The film is a drama about the onset of Alzheimer's disease, and it's a must-see!

Fans of documentaries will also be treated to an Oscar winner.

Citizenfour paints a shocking picture of the surveillance scandal involving the NSA with whistleblower Edward Snowden at the centre of this truly current film.

In addition to these films, Titanic offers many others from Far Eastern films to Danish westerns, and even an excellent Polish alcoholism dramedy!
