Room 8 started with a spontaneous “shop party” on the 9th of October near the BAH junction, and from now on, anyone will be able to experience the new club’s unique atmosphere that a can be accessed from both Király andPaulay Ede Streets. The place rejects the current trends of Budapest’s party scene and professes that we only need good company and great music for an awesome night out.
The team behind the club was inspired by the atmosphere of the annual Garden Festival in Croatia, where each summer, thousands of party-goers dance to intelligent, yet easy-to-digest house and disco music. "In a city of two million people, there has to be around 600-700 individuals who are interested in good music and quality entertainment every weekend. We don't want to create another drinking trough for the masses,” they emphasise. "We want to create a real hangout, which could become the long-term answer to the questions ‘where do we go clubbing?’ and such.”
The club can accommodate up to 300 people and its primary objective is to allow us to have fun just as casually as at Garden Festival or at the house party of our best friend. "We create a place defined by our and our friends’ opinions and preferences, and hope that the wider audience will appreciate this,” they said.
The concept is for Room 8 to be more than just a club where you can drink. The place has a firm target and a high quality “content production”, provided by the instincts of these same friends because of their lack of previous experience. This includes Gensi (Add2Basket), who has been working as a DJ/producer for years, traveled around the world, brought home his experiences and dreamed up the world of Room 8; famous producer Viktor Szekrényes, who parties under the name Vikipop and works as the assistant of Tensnake; Marci Karsai, who made the design; and event organizer-brand manager Ildi Tőke.
Room 8 is a place where the team places great emphasis on the programs. They will invite many foreign DJs, but we should not expect superstars, since that would be contrary to the club’s message. "We are aware that the people we invite are iconic only for us for the time being, so we would like to attract visitors with the atmosphere and our attitude. It would be super if the program would be irrelevant for them after a while, because that would mean that they trust us and our decision”.
The guys also strive to be unique on the social media, as well: the Room 8 “manual”, in which they share important thoughts about party culture, is a good example of this. Similarly Room 8's
Record Bag series introduces its favourite albums to the audience.
According to expectations, Room 8 will not only entertain its guests but also bring a new atmosphere to the city life. "We do not want to call ourselves underground or too mainstream either, we would like our guests to decide what this place means to them. For us, it means everything, since our dream is to play music in the company of our favourite DJs and friends every day, in the club that we dreamed up together,” said the Room 8 team.
Anyone who misses a place with a house party atmosphere in the city or is simply bored of Gozsdu and wants to dance a bit is definitely welcome to drop by Room 8.
