If you are a fan of John Carpenter's or Fabio Frizzi's eerie, monolithic synthjams or simply want to explore the most claustrophobic segments of the Budapestian underground-electro scene, two words: Küss Mich. The two DJ/organiser/music addict, Gördön and Splatter already brought acts like Xeno & Oaklander, Led Er Est, Umbero or Automelodi to Budapest and their DJ sets are always filled with coldwave/krautrock/italo disco classics, that make you scream - both from the knife-edge tension and the euphory. The next time you can catch them is during the 6th Budapest Architecture Film Days - they booked one half of Led Er Est, Shawn O' Sullivan, together with Saint Leidal the 2nd and The Stanley Maneuver.
Nightdrive is organised twice a month for your headnodding pleasure (usually it takes place at Toldi Cinema) - but altough we are talking about hip-hop oriented cruising, the DJs (Headshotboyz, NakedKool, Zovek, Eirik) are always ready for some introverted, opium house or oldschool techno/acid rumbling. They sometimes invite their favourite beatmakers: on the 21th of February, Iamnobodi from Soulection will make that beat drop. Another hip-hop themed party series is kolor's Monday Session, runned by Faz and Mr. Mstrs. Every Monday, you can listen to everything this style can offer from futurebass and wonky to soulful classics - not to mention, that every time, organisers come up with a different concept or a special guest. And let's not forget about the cultic Rewind, one of Budapest's oldest party series - every Wednesday, Palotai, Cadik, Zosha and MC Zeek blows the roof of Corvintető with a healthy amount of bass music - be it hip-hop, trap, grime, moombahton or downtempo.
Corvintető also hosts Budapest's best drum and bass parties - say a quick thank you to Bladerunnaz / Budapest Bass Music -, so every month, there are some nights which are filled with amen breaks, rollers, liquid funk and grinding tempo. If names like Calibre, DJ Die or Loxy rings a bell, you can be sure that it - and Dürlin - is your place. The latter also hosts goa / psytrance parties, in case you want to contact Gaia or just chill out and forget about society for a night.
If you are intrested about how the trendiest clubs will treat your ears: the magic styles are nu-disco and deep house. Ötkert and Urimuri is always a good choice for some easy-going flirts and joyful nights. The former club is often invaded by Kollektiva, who's DJ will surely make you dance with their panerotic, lushful house / disco bangers. The unbeatable duo of TMX and Fullstero is often joined by a special guest, like Aeroplane. On the other hand, Tiszta Udvar Rendes House features the hottest and most exciting Hungarian DJ teams: Designer Drums, Stamusic., The Fennec Fox - not to mention that you can enjoy it every Thursday!
Presented by Trafó, Electrify is a contemporary electronic music series with a focus on adventurous sound and stimulus for memorable sonic experience. Featuring established and emerging artists the diverse line-up aims to push boundaries for challenging exploration of new musical dimensions. Altough we currently haven't got any information about the fifth episode's theme, we can assure you that it will worth the wait.
[wlb-program ] The same goes for Bounce Xtra, which is both a platform for up and coming DJs and producers to show what they've got and a good chance to catch up with the most interesting and actual electronic music - juke, footwork, trap, UK garage, futurebass, mutant house and so on. If you checked the last two party series, and you also consider yourself a cold-hearted music lover who is in love with the Scandinavian culture, give Keep North some love!
A38 is the reincarnation of a Ukranian stone-carrier ship - and let's be honest, can you imagine a better place for some hypnotic, noisy and atmospheric techno nights with the music pulsating, rumbling and smashing you into the bottom into ship? Neither can we. Technokunst is Budapest's biggest international techno club event hosted by local legends Isu and Dork, introducing the hottest techno artists from all around the world - from fresh young titans to seen-it-all demi-gods, presented on the best sound system in the city. Next time: Terence Fixmer, Mark Broom!
