Don’t judge a book by its cover and don’t feel intimidated by the cold and strict Scandinavian style of Baldaszti’s Grand. Looks are quite deceiving once again – the only thing we should be afraid of is that we’re going to waste our whole afternoon on the sunshiny terrace. Of course there are other alternatives for those who would like to enjoy a hot summer day with a refreshing spritzer around Andrássy Avenue. If you enter the gates of number 8, you will find yourself in the stylishly dilapidated world of Urimuri.

We all know how the typical ‘ruin pubs’ are made: take an old tenement house in the city centre, add a few interior design tricks, forget the putty knives, pack the place with vintage furniture and spice the whole thing up with new-wave artistic installations.

Urimuri however went straight against these typical ruin pub conventions. They tried to preserve the rich heritage of the interior and they wanted to maintain all of what’s left of the old times. A great piece of evidence is the huge wooden gate at the entrance.

As we enter the inner yard we don’t really know where to turn to, there are so many things to look at. The arches above the windows are decorated with mosaic-like paintings and there are plants all around that create a sort of Mediterranean mood in the middle-class milieu.

A circular bar that is basically the heart of Urimuri lies right in the middle of the yard. The front area at the entrance will be a dining area with a huge dining table and with quality fast foods. The smaller rooms and areas will be perfect for long talks and for first kisses.

The minimalistic interior design is the creation of architect and designer Dóra Fónagy, and interior stylist Heni Kiss.

During the construction special attention was paid to omitting the vivid colours, to pay homage to the original interior and to create a ‘we just moved in’ atmosphere. Some of the walls were decorated by local art students to give a bit of an edge to the design.

Urimuri is able to host up to 300 people. The prices and the offers will be rather friendly. Music genres will mainly include electro and house.
