Confectionery never grows old in Budapest and now three new players have come on the scene, each with their own flavour. A nice workshop making authentic macarons, the showroom of a well-known cake manufactory, and the confectionery of a popular downtown entertainment complex. Each is a must-try for those with a sweet tooth - or three!

For anyone who wed in Budapest over the last three years and went to wedding exhibitions before the big day, the name Preston will likely sound familiar. After all, they make the city’s finest and most stylish cakes. Sweet artworks like those in the movies, but without the tacky marzipan couple on top and definitely without those industrial flavour creams.

Andrea Mészáros, the heart and soul of Preston Torta-manufaktúra learned all the ticks of cake making from some of the best-known British experts, and has been making her festive desserts ever since. While we could find Preston in the downtown area before, they didn't have a “showroom” where we could just eat a cupcake after a long day at work. But the new store in V District is ideal not only for those searching for their perfect wedding cake, but also for sweet-toothed passersby. The cake manufactory is a perfect date spot, but we can also impress our mother-in-law with the lovely and delicious sweets as well. We were left in awe by the Belgian chocolate cupcake with chestnut cream, as well as the gluten-free mango dessert with freeze-dried raspberries. Sweet ecstasy!
