Szent István Square by the St. Stephen’s Basilica is home to a charming
Christmas fair
for five weeks, starting on November 27. Besides the 200 different programs and handcrafted products of 80 vendors, a selection of international eats and drinks are on offer along Zrínyi Street (a short distance away from Szent István Square), creating a full-fledged festive atmosphere.
In the evenings, visitors can admire the
3D laser projections
on the front side of the Basilica, children can enjoy the artificial
ice skating rink
around the 9-meter tall Christmas tree, while fascinating folk dance shows entertain during the weekends. Following New Year’s traditions, January 1 marks the “lentil day” when visitors can sample an assortment of lentil-based meals around the food stalls to ensure a lucky year ahead.
