Even though Budapest’s street-food revolution brought innumerable eateries offering ready-to-eat meals to the city’s Pest side, on the other bank of the Danube there are still not so many stands providing handheld treats. However, this summer the trend seems to finally be crossing the river, as Buda’s recently renovated Széll Kálmán Square is now a new showcase for street-food snacks, with the recent opening of new branches of a popular pair of Pest-side eateries here – Zing Burger and Pizza Me.

Buda is officially joining the street-food sensation, as this summer Zing Burger launched a new base at Széll Kálmán Square, on the serenely hilly side of Budapest – and now a branch of Pizza Me popped up nearby at Margit Boulevard 95. With both of these easygoing eateries located close to the Castle District, we are pleased to see such appetizingly affordable food so conveniently available in Buda for tourists and locals alike.

Pizza Me’s authentic slices are made with original Italian recipes; their dough is perfectly thin but still soft, with a truly crispy crust, and the generous toppings are so saucy that the fifth Pizza Me unit of the city is already warmly welcomed on the beautiful Buda side.

Meanwhile, one of the best burger places of Budapest, Zing Burger, started out with a single street-food truck, and now they are present at various venues around Budapest. The newest unit opened at Széll Kálmán Square earlier this summer, and besides offering amazing meaty treats, as a tribute to their new locale they also introduced a new sandwich called the “Moszkva” (honoring the square’s previous name during Hungary’s era under Soviet control), which includes a juicy beef patty, cheddar cheese, tomato, onion, jalapenos, lettuce, and a retro-style sauce. However, as encouraging as these newcomers are, we believe that there is still some space left for a few more Buda-side street-food spots...
