As one of Budapest’s best independent art-house theaters and cafés, Kino already has distinct flair – and a proposed image makeover may complete the picture. While these plans remain on the drawing board for now, there is already considerable interest in the unique design ideas for Kino’s menu, packaging, and more, featuring odd objects and animals in a color scheme of red, black, and white. The cinematic visions come courtesy of a young Hungarian graphic artist, Szandra Mészáros, who created the designs for Kino as her thesis project.

In creating the new logo, the emphasis was on coming up with a simple, minimalist symbol that forgoes clichés. The design of the packaging materials was inspired by the antiques, dramatic scenery, and old cutlery found around Kino. The environment-friendly and practical takeaway boxes were designed by Kinga Nyoszoli, a founder of Hungary’s DEZKA skateboard company (which recently debuted a new collection). In addition to the packaging and the logo, the portfolio also includes new posters and aprons. The new image was the thesis project of Szandra Mészáros for the Hungarian University of Fine Arts – we think this design could be Kino’s biggest summer blockbuster!
