As you skate around Budapest’s largest ice rink, you can admire the beauty of the City Park and Disneyesque Vajdahunyad Castle, close to Heroes’ Square. The ice rink’s history dates back to 1869 but the present-day building was built in Neo-Baroque style in 1895. In 2011, the building underwent a thorough renovation, restoring it to its pre-war appearance. Tickets are available online as well as on the spot, and entry is free for children under six. In the extremely busy days immediately around Christmas, entry is now restricted to season-ticket holders only.
