Near Szabadság tér, Trattoria Pomo D’oro is a popular and elegant Italian restaurant. It was the first of its kind in Hungary to be acknowledged by the Association of Professional Italian Chefs and in 2018, it was chosen one of the 70 best kitchens worldwide that make traditional Italian pizza. Pomo D’oro was conceived by Gianni Annoni, who created an authentic spot in the city's business quarter: its thin-crust pizza is, indeed, baked to crunchy perfection in a wood-fired oven. They have a wide selection of pastas, risottos and seafood, but if you’re in the mood for a hearty steak, that’s also on the menu. The rich wine list is Hungarian and Italian in character. If you’re craving something sweet after the meal, the Gelateria Pomo D’oro on the same street has great gelato.
