Tabán art cinema was the first motion picture theater of the Buda side, founded by Manó Pécsi in the 1910s – today it remains the only art cinema on that side of the Danube. Before it received its current name in 1990, it was called Palota, Krisztina, and Diadal, but the name wasn’t the only thing that changed during the years. In 2014, the cinema went through a series of renovations: the entire interior was renewed, and the latest digital projection and sound system were added. Found one minute away from Krisztina Square, the place became a local favorite, as its quality choice of movies competes with the conventional selection of other commercial cinemas – and you can even rent movies at Tabán Téka
