In summer, there's a veritable mini-festival happening at the Pest bridgehead of Chain Bridge. PONTOON is a nightspot where you sit outdoors, sipping spritzers or lemonade with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in the background, dangling your legs over the Danube. Along with parties and live concerts, PONTOON runs a kitchen, the nibbles inspired by Eastern cuisine, plus pizza from Blitz. Drinks-wise, you'll find wines by Gere and Figula, Strongbow on draught plus an ample range of gins. Look out, too for Hugo, Aperol's minty sibling. The atmosphere changes as evening moves to nightfall and beyond as locals reconnect with the Danube.
