Named after the father of great reformer István Széchenyi, Count Ferenc, the National Széchényi Library (Országos Széchényi Könyvtár) is housed in Building F of Buda Castle on Szent György tér. As Hungary’s national archive, it stores at least one, and often several, copies of every book published in the country. These are for library use only, so that valuable editions can be kept in the best possible condition. But if you’re looking for a quiet nook to study or simply get lost amid antique treasure, this place is perfect.
