Kolonics György sétány lines five kilometres of waterfront promenade on Csepel island. Less busy than the popular Margaret Island and Római Part, here you can really give yourself over to nature, far from the noise and the crowds of downtown Budapest. Lush vegetation, birdsong and the proximity of water are a great combination for helping you relax and recharge. It’s a suitable destination for families, dog owners, joggers, rowers and fishermen, but couples also like to visit for a romantic walk by the river. Children will enjoy the sea-themed playground, with a lengthy cycle track also to be found. The area was named after the two-time Olympic champion and 15-time world champion Hungarian canoeist György Kolonics, who died tragically young after representing Csepel throughout his career. Visitors will find a memorial statue nearby.
