Károlyi-kert is the oldest garden in Budapest. This French-style urban park originally belonged to the well-to-do Károlyi family, but now operates as a family-friendly public attraction, despite the fences. It’s known for its beautiful plants and flowers, romantic pathways and relaxing atmosphere. A children’s playground, fountain and sundry statuary also feature – note the one of the revered Károly, a Belgian giant rabbit and former park resident. Károlyi-kert is an ideal place in the city centre to relax after work and grab a drink at nearby Csendes or Csendes Társ, whose tables spread around the park’s ornate gate.
