The mansion at number eight, Andrássy út, was designed by Adolf Feszty on behalf of Henrik Schossberger, and built in 1880. it once operated as one of the first cinemas in town before becoming a hardware store, a bank and a nightclub. Today it’s a four-star hotelArt Deco in style, with 99 rooms, breathtaking vaulting, a glass-covered former courtyard, and refined but stylish interior. Even the great Károly Lotz left his mark on the nicely renovated walls. There is a chic restaurant downstairs, great for for non-guests, too. The Andrássy Suite upstairs is recommended for guests who don’t mind if their window looks out on the dome of the Basilica.
