A destination
in its own right and integral to the Hard Rock Hotel Budapest,
Sessions is bistro restaurant, cocktail bar and DJ spot
in one. Globetrotting chef Tamás Lipták and team in the open
kitchen prepare the specialities of a fellow Hard Rock Hotel city –
a pindi chole curry, say, or even fish and
chips – but they’re equally happy to sizzle you up
a signature burger with foie gras camembert. The many
Hungarian labels in the wine rack are not just there for show but the ideal
complement to a classic domestic dish such as wild-boar goulash or chicken
paprikash. High-end Hungarian spirits, pálinka peach brandy
and Unicum Reserva, underscore signature cocktails such as a Peach &
Passion and Budapest Spritz, served from the island bar of this buzzy, contemporary
space. Original artwork and a well-chosen soundtrack set the
tone, the tempo changing when DJs spin tunes on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings,
and Sunday lunchtimes. Alongside, an open passage courtyard
looks out onto the urban hubbub close to Nagymező utca, Budapest’s own theatre-lined version of Broadway.
