The Ghraouis are one of the oldest merchant families in Damascus – their history can be traced back to 1805. They started making chocolate in the 1930s and since then, their shop survived various political storms and even Socialist collectivisation, but the current civil war threatened the company with closure. They have since moved their shop to Budapest and started anew on Andrássy út, in an elegant building designed by Bruno Moinard. They make and sell artisanal bonbons, truffles and pralines, prepared with care and craftsmanship.
