A true Budapest gem, the botanical garden of the Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) lies in a lesser-explored area of District VIII. If you like your cacti, orchids and huge water lilies, this picturesque attraction is the place to be. The garden dates back to the 1700s, and in its heyday, it was home to more than 12,000 different species. It’s also an important location in Ferenc Molnár’s revered novel The Paul Street Boys. If you would like to buy plants and flowers here, pop into Fitoland shop found just inside.
