The Corvinus University of Budapest has been training economists and other financial experts since 1948. The Neo-Renaissance building on Fővám tér, next to the Great Market Hall, was designed by Miklós Ybl of Opera House fame and opened in the 1800s. In 2007, it was expanded with a new block next to the waterfront Bálna retail and leisure centre.
