The movie theater started operating in 1908 under the name Helios but it experienced a lot of change through the years: it was renamed many times, it was privatized (that’s when it got its current name), and it was closed down in 2009. The January of 2016 was another major turning point in the life of Bem, as the cinema opened its gates once again and (almost) returned to its former function. What’s new is that from now on it will operate as a “repertory cinema”, which means that they will only screen movie classics - with original audio and subtitles. Thus you can watch legendary pieces like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly or films directed by Woody Allen. The operators have plans for similar events, night screenings, and themed movie-marathons in the future.
