Paletta

At one of Ferencváros's most delightful, family-friendly locations, renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, the terrace tables are now set. Spring's arrival was celebrated at Paletta in late March (with a terrace-opening pizza party), and since then, weather permitting, patrons can enjoy outdoor seating for coffee, fine wine, or dinner. Their Facebook page is a valuable resource for upcoming events, and advance booking is recommended for these occasions.

Ibolya Espresso

Ibolya on Ferenciek tere is a genuinely nostalgic time capsule, serving toasted sandwiches, beer, spirits, and offering outdoor seating from early March to late October. While the authentic vintage Hungarian atmosphere is best experienced inside amongst the shell-shaped and faux leather armchairs (think classic British greasy spoon meets Eastern Bloc charm), the terrace is a great spot for people-watching in central Budapest from early spring through late autumn – provided you can nab a table, of course.

Dunaparty Megálló

In the outskirts of the Buda side, along the picturesque banks of the Danube, Dunaparty Megálló has launched its twentieth season, operating from a converted London Routemaster bus. They serve up delicious Hungarian specialities including lángos, fried hake, pancakes, and other typical waterfront street food when the sun makes an appearance. While you can arrive on foot, it sits conveniently along a cycle path, so why not rent a bicycle and pedal out for the quintessential Hungarian combo of a Bambi (a charmingly retro fizzy drink that's something of a cross between Vimto and cream soda) and a freshly fried lángos – the perfect riverside treat.

Halas Guszti

For those who find cycling a bit ordinary, Guszti and crew have their own dock, making a spot of rowing another delightful option for your visit.
