With the long Pentecost weekend upon us, Budapest is buzzing with events from Friday to Monday. Whether you're after live music, chilled beaches, cultural heritage, or a pop-up coffee break, there's plenty to explore in the city this extended break.

Friday, 6 June

1.  RÁKÓCZISOKK FESTIVAL

RákócziSokk Festival returns to Rákóczi Square with live music and good vibes. Expect performances from Rutkai Bori Banda, Budapest Afro Ska Orchestra, and more between 4 pm and 10 pm. Entry is free, and the atmosphere is unbeatable.

WINE & CHAMPAGNE FESTIVAL

From 5 to 9 June, the Downtown Wine and Champagne Festival returns for its fourth edition, bringing some of Hungary's top wineries and champagne producers to Szabadság tér. As part of the program, you can sip premium wines and champagnes under shady trees, while tasting street food dishes with music in the background. The event awaits visitors every day from noon to night with a light urban picnic atmosphere. Entry is free.

3.  GIN FESTIVAL 

From 5 to 8 June, GinFest Budapest returns for its fifth edition – this time at the vibrant Zsiráf Pest. Expect over 20 types of gin, special tonic pairings, and a cheerful, sunshine-filled atmosphere. With free entry, daily DJ sets, and a kid- and pet-friendly vibe, it's the perfect way to ease into summer. Highlights include House of Giraffe on Thursday, Ensemble on Friday, Ritmik on Saturday, and Ritual closing the weekend on Sunday.

COFFEE & COOKIE POP-UP AT ILLUSTRI STUDIO

Cookie Lovers Club and Into Coffee join forces for a cosy pop-up at Illustri Studio (1137 Budapest, Katona József utca 22) between 6 and 9 June. Running from 10 am to 4 pm, this soulful space is all about cookies, coffee, and conversation. Expect a relaxed atmosphere filled with sweet smells, friendly faces, and simple pleasures.

MARKET, PICNIC AND PARTY AT HENGERMALOM

Between 7 and 8 June, expect a colourful mix of events at Hengermalom. Saturday warms up for the Bánkitó Festival with a jumble sale, talks, theatre, live music, beer tasting, and creative workshops. Sunday kicks off with the ReMarket Vintage Fair, followed by creative sessions, building tours, DJ sets, and a Whitsun picnic featuring food and drink tastings – perfect for a relaxed summer afternoon.

LUPA BEACH FREE OPENING WEEKEND

Originally planned for earlier, Lupa Beach kicks off its 10th season from 6 to 9 June with free daytime programmes and sunshine beats. Though the official beach opening was postponed due to weather, this weekend brings daytime parties, family-friendly activities, and a chilled lakeside atmosphere to ease into summer.

JAZZ & WINE WEEKEND 

Enjoy smooth jazz tunes and a glass of wine in the heart of Budapest at the Wine & Jazz Weekend, taking place from 7 to 9 June on Margaret Island. This relaxed open-air event brings together local wineries and talented jazz musicians, creating the perfect atmosphere for a summer evening by the Danube. PENTECOST HERITAGE FESTIVAL

On 8 and 9 June, the Hungarian Open Air Museum in Szentendre hosts the Pentecost Heritage Festival for the 14th time. From tasting regional dishes to learning traditional crafts, enjoying folk music, admiring regional costumes, and even joining in the dancing, the event offers a full cultural immersion. Each day ends with a joyful all-dance, where every performer and heritage group comes together to dance the csárdás – a Hungarian tradition recognised on UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

WALK & TALK: KOLODKO MINIATURE EDITION

This Sunday, swap your usual city stroll for something a little more playful. Join a light-hearted urban treasure hunt as you discover the miniature world of Mihály Kolodko – the Ukrainian-Hungarian sculptor known for his tiny bronze characters scattered across Budapest. From a pint-sized emperor to a quirky cast of hidden figures, these sculptures add a touch of surprise and charm to everyday corners. The walk kicks off at 10 am from the 83 bus stop at Fővám tér.

Monday, 9 June

TILOS MARATHON 2025

Dürer Kert hosts the annual Tilos Maraton, a celebration of independent radio and alternative music, running from 6 to 14 June. This week-long festival features live performances, DJ sets, and community events, all in support of Tilos Rádió. With a relaxed atmosphere and vibrant programming, it's a celebration of alternative culture and grassroots media.

DANUBE CARNIVAL

Budapest's streets come alive with the sounds and colours of the  Danube Carnival , a celebration of Hungarian folk traditions and global music. Taking place between  6 and 14 June , the festival features a series of  open-air performances, parades, and workshops  across the city, culminating in a spectacular  gala  on  Margaret Island . Expect lively performances, dance shows, and a grand parade that brings the city to life.
