BUDAPEST BOOK WEEK

For the 96th time, the Association of Hungarian Publishers and Booksellers is hosting the country's largest open-air celebration of contemporary Hungarian literature. Budapest Book Week takes place from 12 to 15 June across Vörösmarty Square, Vigadó Square and the Danube Promenade, with more than 150 exhibitors welcoming visitors. Beyond the literary buzz, visitors can browse the latest titles and timeless classics — with many available at special discounted prices. It's the perfect chance to refresh your summer reading list while soaking up the festival atmosphere.

SUMMER TEX‑MEX FESTIVAL AT TEREZA

Head to lively Tereza from 12–15 June for a Tex‑Mex festival — think smoky grilled meats, boozy ice cream and salsa beats wafting out at full swing. Feast on BBQ chicken‑topped potato skins, Surf 'n' Turf tacos and margaritas as the evening hums into life.

BUDAPEST PRIDE RUN

Join the Run For Rights community run on 14 June at Margaret Island, organised by Amnesty International Hungary as part of the Budapest Pride Festival. The 5 km run welcomes everyone — from complete beginners to seasoned runners — all moving together for a more open and inclusive society. Participation is free.

SUP TOUR ON THE DANUBE

See Budapest from a new angle — right from the water! On 14 June, join a sunset SUP tour with SUP Budapest and paddle past the city’s iconic sights, from Hajógyári Island and Margaret Island to the majestic Parliament, finishing just before Elizabeth Bridge.

The tour kicks off at 6 pm from the  Római-part  base and includes a short preparation and training session before setting out. Tours run several times a week all summer long, so you can also catch an early morning paddle if you prefer.

NIGHT OF CHOIRS 2025

On Saturday, 14 June, the Night of Choirs returns for its 13th edition — an amateur choir festival that, along with its winter counterpart, has become a beloved annual fixture for the local choral community.

Choirs from all over Hungary and beyond will gather in the atmospheric streets and courtyards of the Palace district, filling the neighbourhood with music . Concerts covering a wide range of styles will take place simultaneously across   eight venues , with surprise pop-up performances also appearing in the surrounding streets.

OUTDOOR FITNESS WORKOUT AT FLAVA BEACH

Join the Flex & Flow Outdoor Fitness Workout at Flava Beach for an energising blend of movement and mindfulness. Kick off with a welcome coffee, then boost your strength in a 90-minute circuit session using kettlebells, dumbbells and resistance bands. Afterwards, unwind with a 30-minute breath work session by the water. To top it off, refuel with a hearty bowl of bogrács gulyás (vegetarian and non-vegetarian options available) and connect with fellow fitness lovers in this vibrant riverside community.

ARK FESTIVAL

The Ark Festival celebrates this rich cultural mix, shining a spotlight on the Bulgarian, Roma, Greek, Croatian, Armenian, Polish, German, Romanian, Rusyn, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, and Ukrainian communities who call the district home.

Now in its third edition, the festival returns on Sunday, 15 June, with a full day of family activities, food, music, and crafts. Expect a lively line-up of folk dance houses on the Új Budai Open-Air Stage, while at the Feneketlen Lake stage, women's choirs will hand over the mic to Hét Hat Club, followed by a performance from Söndörgő. The programme is colourful, diverse, and entirely free

GREEN MARKET AT KLAUZÁL SQUARE MARKET HALL

On Sunday 15 June, between 10 am and 3 pm, the Green Market is back—this time at Klauzál Square Market Hall. This sustainability-focused event brings together conscious shoppers, eco-enthusiasts, and those passionate about reducing waste. Wander through the stalls and discover local produce, handmade products by Hungarian makers, vintage clothing, natural materials, recycled pieces, and a range of eco-friendly and zero-waste alternatives. Alongside browsing, there will also be workshops and activities aligned with the theme of sustainability. Entry is free.

On  15 June , Makers' Market returns to  Fény Street Market, bringing together over 80 brilliant  local makers  — all ready to showcase their beautiful, handcrafted creations.
