Take yourself out for coffee
Not every November plan needs a date in the calendar. Budapest's café season is arguably at its best once it gets cold outside, so pick an afternoon and take yourself - or a friend - somewhere cosy for coffee, cake and nowhere else to be. Try Augustus for an old-school Budapest coffee-house mood, settle in at Café Antigonè with a book, stop by Café Arkitekter for coffee in a beautiful Bauhaus setting or make your way to Mamie by Artizán for pastries and something sweet. Sometimes that's enough of a plan.
Celebrate St Martin’s Day
St Martin's Day is on 11 November, and in Hungary that traditionally means goose and new wine. Restaurants around Budapest mark the occasion with seasonal dishes built around roast goose, goose liver and other takes on the tradition, usually paired with the first wines of the year. It's one of those Hungarian food traditions worth experiencing at least once, so keep an eye on special menus appearing around the city as the date gets closer.
Evanora: Unlimited at Turbina
California artist Orion Ohana brings the ever-changing world of Evanora: Unlimited to Turbina on 13 November. Described by its creator as a “based-on-true-events erotic sci-fi religious horror epic”, the multimedia project moves between music, film, performance art and world-building. Its unpredictable live shows blend industrial electronics, punk, melodic rock, rap and haunting ballads, promising one of the more unusual concert experiences coming to Budapest this autumn.

Browse handcrafted gifts and products from Hungarian makers, warm up with seasonal food and drinks, and stick around after dark to see the city centre at its most festive. At the Basilica, the popular light show projected onto the façade also returns for the season.
