Budapest is big on parties: clubs, bars, ruin bars, discos, and live music venues dot the scene. We have rounded up 5 legendary spots, from the party district to downtown and the riverside, that will have you dancing many summer nights away.

1/5

Instant-Fogas

You might already have the Instant-Fogas complex on your Budapest bucket list, as it is the most popular spot in the party district. It is also a must when it comes to parties in the summer (or any other season, for that matter). First, it is a ruin bar, so you will get to see the city's quirky side. Second, it is super multicultural: Erasmus students, foreign stag doers and locals merge here. It is also open every day until 6 am, and there is no entry fee. But still, the best bit is that it includes 7 unique clubs, offering a diverse music scene: you can swap from rock to hip-hop, then move on to pop, Latin, techno, R&B, and even concerts. Stepping foot on its many dancing floors, you will surely find something you fancy, and there is so much to do and see that dawn sets in without you noticing. (x)

Doboz

Doboz is a trustworthy party spot in the same jungle (District VII) as Instant-Fogas. It is also a ruin pub or rather a 'ruin club', which explains the massive wooden gorilla hugging a 320-year-old tree in the courtyard. But it also has 2 dance floors offering 8 music styles and the latest top tracks. Fridays are all about the 2000s while Saturdays speak to the Latino/a in you. The club is open from Wednesday to Saturday (all year round), so you can get your dance fix even on a weekday. And whenever you need a break from all the dancing and get some fresh air, you can pop into the inner courtyard, no need to leave the club.

3/5

Morrison's 2

The most eclectic parties of the city happen here, at Morrison's 2. The club has 7 dance floors, a karaoke section, beer pong, pool tables and foosball, making it a handy option for big groups. So no surprise that tourists and Erasmus and university students equally flock here. You can switch up the rooms and music styles as much as you'd like: whether you are in the mood for some R&B, house beats, or popular hits, they will get you covered. The club is at the foot of Margaret Bridge (Pest side), making it easy to get here. And it is worth arriving on time, so you can opt for one of the bottomless drink offers for a fair price (starting from EUR 14). Another big plus is that the club is open from Monday to Saturday (all year round), with free entry until 9 pm. And if you get hungry after the party, the popular street food spot Szeráj is literally around the corner. (x)

4/5

Ötkert

The downtown club Ötkert is another jewel in Budapest's party scene. It is housed in a 19th-century building, just a stone's throw away from St Stephen's Basilica (so an after-party mini-sightseeing stroll is definitely on the cards). It boasts an impressive courtyard and is generous with the opening hours, welcoming partygoers from Monday to Sunday. Also, parties only start at 11 pm, so there is no need to rush the pre-drinks either. But then, they don't stop anytime soon: you can move, shake your hips, bounce, shuffle, or jump to three different music on 3 dance floors until 5 am.

5/5

Romkert

Another legend, this time by the river: Romkert is an exclusive club at the foot of Gellért Hill. Here, you can enjoy big hits, reggeaton or techno music under the stars (literally as it is an open-air venue), making it an ideal spot for summer parties. You can turn up as early as noon and stay until sunrise while sipping on cool cocktails, nibbling on delicious snacks, and moving to the beats. You can pick a day based on your musical taste: Tuesday is for pop, Wednesday is for hip hop, R&B and reggaeton. On Thursday, hits from the 2000s and 2010s are played, while Friday focuses on top tracks. On Saturday, you can dance to electronica, house and techno in this beautiful environment.
